John Osterholm
I’ve been working the in the jewelry business since graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1995. I moved to Los Angeles and worked for a family friend, Sarkis Kitsinian. Mr.Kitsinian was well regarded in the jewelry business and had one of the largest gold importing and manufacturing operations in the country. It was an eye-opening experience and allowed me to understand both the wholesale/manufacturing side of the industry along with retail.
After returning to Omaha I started working with my father and his employees at 14 Karat. I didn’t picture myself selling diamonds and fine jewelry this long. At the time it was more of a commitment to the family business and helping out my dad as he was aging. However, as time went by I grew to love selling and having the interactions with customers every day.
I assumed ownership of the company in 2008 and moved the location to the Shops of Legacy in West Omaha. As in the beginning I still love to see our many repeat customers and have done this long enough now that I’m starting to see the children of my very first customers come through the door. I love building relationships and that is really what this business is all about at its core.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I’m an avid gear head and have been working on and collecting cars since I was 16. It took me 11 years but with the help of a good friend I just completed a frame off restoration of a 1965 Corvette Stingray a couple of years ago. I have also served on my fraternity board for over 20 years and have enjoyed the great friendships and mentorships that come from the organization.
